Samina Peerzada, one gorgeous woman, calls herself a survivor. “I have never thought of ageing as a hindrance in my career,†says the vivacious actor/compere. “It only becomes an obstacle if you make it one.â€

Explaining further, Peerzada says, “I consider growing old to be a positive experience because you learn more about life and its truths. Besides, I learned early on in life to wait patiently for things or rewards to come by. Therefore patience is the key.â€
Peerzada has had her fill of pain and disappointments, too, though the big bright smile on her face and a chirpy voice tend to defy her problems. She has come a long way in her career, starting as a model then making her way into mainstream acting, working for television, theatre and films, and also trying her luck in directing movies.
Samina Peerzada is a campaigner these days for early detection of breast cancer, a disease that she believes has affected many women in Pakistan due to lack of personal care and attention to well-being.
Despite severe setbacks, she has never let herself drift into pessimism, and she considers this her greatest strength. “I have had my share of ‘stumbling blocks’ in life but I have this great ability to spring back and come around which is really important.
You can either end up cribbing about everything in life or celebrate yourself for having whatever you have. It is the little child inside you who keeps you exploring new things, learning more about the world and life. That little child in me also keeps me on my feet.â€
Though Samina Peerzada has successfully climbed the ladder with her potential and a positive attitude, she deems the little things in life more important. “I shuttle between two cities, Karachi and Lahore, due to a demanding career, but I do try to make it a point to be there for everybody –– my husband, two daughters, in-laws, parents, friends and family. As a young woman I used to put people instantly in black and white but as I grew older, I realised that people are multifaceted and that you only have to stop, notice and listen patiently.â€
Samina Peerzada wants women to celebrate themselves, as they are the most important factor in the creation of the world. “We bring colour to the world and prevent the mundaneness of life and should consider ourselves important and give ourselves a break from monotony –– perhaps a facial or a manicure or a pedicure to maintain our general well-being. Besides, praying five times a day is the perfect way of keeping a regimen and keeping some time to ourselves.â€
For a healthy upkeep, women should have a constant intake of calcium and get some light cardiovascular exercise to stay fit even in later age, she says. “I never had the time to exercise when my daughters were young, but I did walk almost everyday. I still try to keep it up despite a hectic schedule.â€
Peerzada’s perfect recipe to a positive outlook is to have a passion in life. “It could be anything that fulfils you and drives you in life.â€
